Nova Siri Genetics boosts its international growth to expand its strawberry varieties to new countries after its success at Fruit Attraction

October 18, 2024

A large number of berries producing companies have been showing interest in the success of NSG varieties in Spain, Italy and North African countries.

The recent edition of the Fruit Attraction fair has allowed Nova Siri Genetics to reinforce all its international expansion work to achieve its implementation and growth in new berries-producing areas. The managers of the Italian company that researches and experiments with new varieties of strawberries and berries, have held an extensive programme of meetings at this global event, with the representatives of the producing companies coming from different areas and strategic territories around the world where strawberries and raspberries are grown and produced.

NSG's ability to attract the interest of new producing companies is due to the success that its early strawberry varieties are achieving in Spain, Italy and North African countries and the expansion that has begun in other countries such as South America and India. The positive performances of its varieties NSG 203-Marimbella®, NSG 465-Rossetta® and NSG 207-Gioelita® is generating a notable following in other growing areas around the world due to their excellent rusticity, earliness, the great quality of the fruits and the good yields achieved thanks to their high productivity.

In the countries where strawberry production is growing, the producing companies are asking for information about the positive data that Nova Siri Genetics is achieving in Spain, bearing in mind that Andalusia and the province of Huelva represent the largest berries-growing areas in Europe. Specifically, the NSG varieties are the ones that are showing the greatest growth in this area. It should be taken into account that for the new 2024-2025 season, Nova Siri Genetics will provide companies with around 150 million strawberry plants, 15% more than the total volume that NSG reached last season.

Another important issue that has been addressed in these meetings at Fruit Attraction is the evolution of the work being carried out by Nova Siri Genetics to improve and obtain new varieties of strawberry and berries. In fact, during this coming season, NSG will be working with Spanish producing companies to carry out trials in the experimental fields of a new strawberry variety for which an application for plant variety rights has already been filed at European level. It is a variety that stands out for its excellent characteristics and for the longer shelf life and conservation of the fruit, two aspects of major importance for the producing companies.
